Interchallenge is one of the translation vendors for the U.S. Government and Foreign Departments, Ministries, Embassies and Consulates. We provide translation services to Federal Agencies and Prime Contractors, with particular expertise in the translation of technical documents and conference interpreting in the areas of International Trade and legal documents translation and court interpreting for Federal, State and Local Courts. Interchallenge is registered with the General Services Administration (GSA) and is capable to uphold a Government-wide contract for Technical Translation Services and Interpreting Services. We also provide guide and escort interpreters for US visits by foreign dignitaries such as Presidents, Ministers, Ambassadors, Consuls, etc.
Our translators are carefully chosen and tested to ensure that only qualified certified translators, editors and reviewers are applied to your governmental projects. Specialist translators have engineering backgrounds in mechanical engineering, aviation, aerospace, combustion engines, automotive and industrial equipment. We specialize in technical, engineering, and medical translation services for federal government and public sector companies.
Our judiciary interpreters and translators facilitate communication for people with limited English proficiency who find it challenging to communicate in a legal setting. Our legal translators are thoroughly familiar with the language and functions of the U.S. judicial system, as well as other countries' legal systems. Court interpreters work in a variety of legal settings, such as attorney-client meetings, preliminary hearings, arraignments, depositions, and trials. Success as a court interpreter requires an understanding of both legal terminology and colloquial language. In addition to interpreting, Interchallenge’s court interpreters are able to read written documents aloud in a language other than that in which they were written, a task known as sight translation.
Our medical interpreters and translators, sometimes our clients refer to our specialists as healthcare interpreters and translators, provide language services to healthcare patients with limited English proficiency. The primary role of our medical interpreters is to help patients to communicate with doctors, nurses, and other medical staff. Our translators are capable of converting patient materials and informational brochures issued by hospitals and medical facilities into the desired language or a number of languages. Our medical interpreters have a strong grasp of medical and colloquial terminology in both languages, along with cultural sensitivity to help the patient receive the information.
Our conference interpreters work at conferences that have non-English-speaking attendees. The work is often in the field of international business and diplomacy, although our conference interpreters can interpret for any organization that works with speakers of foreign languages. Employers prefer high-level interpreters who have the ability to translate from at least two languages into one native language—for example, the ability to interpret from Spanish and French into English. For some positions, such as those with the United Nations, this qualification is mandatory. Guide or escort interpreters accompany either U.S. dignitary visitors abroad or foreign dignitary visitors in the United States to ensure that they are able to communicate during their stay. Our specialists interpret on a variety of subjects, both on an informal basis and on a professional level. Most of their interpreting is consecutive, and two interpreters generally share work when the assignment requires more than an 8-hour day. Frequent travel, often for days or weeks at a time, is common, and Interchallenge has available interpreters for these types of assignments.
